Our specialized board-certified chiropractic orthopedic, sports medicine and rehabilitation training allow us to provide high quality conservative care.

We are one of a handful of chiropractors in Chicago who are Diplomate/Fellow of the Academy of Chiropractic Orthopedists (DACO/FACO), a designation that distinguishes certified chiropractic orthopedists for clinical excellence and advanced training.

Fellows of the Academy of Chiropractic Orthopedists are chiropractic physicians who have advanced training and who specialize in the non-surgical branch of orthopedics. Chiropractic orthopedists treat the entire musculoskeletal system including joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments, cartilage, associated nerve structures and not just the spine.

With advanced training beyond traditional chiropractic education, FACO’s have expertise consistent with an orthopedic specialist. After completing undergraduate degrees and chiropractic university doctorate, a chiropractic orthopedist pursues three to four years of rigorous post-graduate work and must pass additional board-certification processes including written and clinical examinations.

Additional training and certification in Diplomate of American Chiropractic Rehabilitation (DACRB), and Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP) respectively, further bolster skills in orthopedics, radiology and sports medicine.

This combination of training and experience gives us a unique perspective and allows us to draw on a broad set of skills for diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal conditions. We frequently use diagnostic testing (such as ultrasound and MRI), perform rehabilitation testing, gait evaluation and evaluation of previous lab results to determine the source of a patients' pain. This enables us to identify objective causes of pain and injury, rather than just relying on description of symptoms.

Treatment by a chiropractic orthopedist includes a range of non-surgical treatment approaches such as manual therapies, chiropractic manual techniques, soft tissue techniques, bracing/taping, rehab exercise, and more.

Dr. Huffman, and staff at ChiroMedica, frequently coordinate with neurologists, orthopedists, surgeons, pain management specialists, and primary care providers to ensure our patients receive the highest standard of care.
